WELCOME TO THE OFFICE OF STRATEGIC INITIATIVES

MISSION:

Our mission is to increase the participation of UTEP's faculty, staff and students, and enhance the application of UTEP's intellectual capital in addressing issues of strategic regional and national importance. We serve as a catalyst for the development of new academic and research program directions in response to opportunities presented by an ever-changing global context, and we foster UTEP's role in stimulating regional economic development and increased employment opportunities for UTEP's graduates, particularly those in engineering and sciences.

OSI GOALS INCLUDE:

  • Promote UTEP within all levels of government
  • Create opportunities and liaisons
  • Contribute to national security and regional economic concerns

OUR CENTERS:

OSI is focusing its attention in two primary areas-homeland   security and homeland defense and their relationship to economic development in the Paso del Norte Region.

 

 The Office of Strategic Initiatives acts as a facilitator   between The University of Texas at El Paso and external   stakeholders who are interested in creating a relationship   with the university.

   Stakeholders include:

  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
  • Department of Defense
  • Other Federal, State and Local Institutions
  • Academic Institutions
  • Industry
  • Foundations
  • Agencies
